I was thinking today, maybe thats why I smelt smoke. I'm sure you have gauged many barrels. When the Marines ordered there barrels from the barrel makers, how/what did they spec the bore diameter .300/.299/.298 what about the groove diameter .308/.3076 or ? did the shop or you have a pet bore/groove dia.

Please understand I'm not trying to be flip, but we tried many NM barrels and only used two kinds for the most part. For THE Marine Corps Team it was almost all Kriegers and Gene Barnett's barrels (Douglas air gaged) for the rest.

We used Atkinson barrels primarily on the Sniper rifles.
