Have decided to go with a handguard rail mount on my M14. Any suggestions for a scope? I see some of the scope mounts are directly over the ejection port and wondered if the expended cases will hit or interfere with the scope?
The Leupold IER Scout Scope 2.5x8 is what I got early on when I had the Scout mount on the barrel. It looked and felt okay. I just never got used to the forward scope thing. My scope, QD rings and Scout mount are now just sitting on the shelf. Have you looked and shot thru a forward mounted scope yet? It does put a little weight forward of center, that's all.
A red dot is another way to go. Fast aquisition, low profile, low maintenance, low weight. There are many choices for a red dot that will meet your needs. Just make sure the MOA the dot covers meets your needs. Eye relief is usually not an issue either.
