Got the bug after digging out some of my ARs. I did have an Armalite AR-10 years ago, but my son the Marine thought he needed it more than me.
So, after a very small amount of research, I decided on using Aero Precision components. Picked up a complete Aero M-5 lower and added, this morning, an ELF 2.5 - 4lb match trigger with a flat blade. Set the trigger right at 3lbs to agree with my other ARs which mostly have Timney match 3lbs installed. Got a bunch of .308 Pmags and an Aero 20" complete upper due in Tuesday. Whatta Hobby!

After building 2 AR-10's for friends, I decided to build one up meself, too. I have the lower and upper... I guess that's a good start!

What kind of barrel you planning on?

20" 1-10 from Aero with their complete upper. Not going to get fancy for now. If I like the thing maybe will look up the ladder a bit. Whatta Hobby!

I put together an Areo LR308 last year after having sold my last several years ago. The upper consist of a criterion 18in rifle length barrel, slr adjustable gas block, and handguard with a Areo nitride bolt and raptor charging handle. Gamma V6G muzzle brake. Lower has a Giesselle SSEA E trigger with a Magpul fixed stock. For glass, NiteForce 4x16 ATACR. It is the smoothest shooting 308 cal rifle I have and does sub 3/4 groups with multiple loads.

I hope yours works better than my old 7.62 x 51 AR-10. My old Bear Creek AR-10 could only fire about forty rounds through it before having to clean it. I sold it and got a 7.62 x 39 Bear Creek Arsenal AR-15 that works much better.

Bear Creek Arsenal is not top of the line though. A decent quality AR-10 with decent ammo likely will work much better than mine.

I don't know if you're thinking about it, but I suggest replacing the stock gas block with an Adjustable Gas Block. I'm a fan of the SLR Rifleworks AGB Sentry 7 Clamp On Adjustable Gas Block

I have a PSA Pa-10. Never really cared for how it balanced until I took the PSA barrel off and replaced it with a Polygunner barrel. Took 10oz off, and made it balance so much better. Now I actually like it. Though I’m in CA and have one of those weird looking Thordsen stocks so I can use detachable magazines.

I enjoy my Aero M5 build. I put mine together as a 16” to keep the gun manageable since I use a suppressor. The Razor is perfect on this rifle.
When you say M-5 build is your rifle chambered in 6.8 x 51 millimeter? If so that is one expensive rifle to shoot presently. Cheapest 6.8 x 51 ammo I can find on the Internet now is about $1.50 per shot.

Here is another rant from me on 6.8 x 51. They also call 6.8 x 51 the .277 Fury. It does not make any sense on the math. 6.8 millimeter equals .267 inches. The rifle cartridge should be called .267 Fury.

No, Aero M5E1. Its a type of receiver set. The handguard slides over a large hunk of metal on the barrel journal for the upper receiver. The E1 models aim for monolithic. Very sturdy setup. Mine is chambered in trusty .308.

.308 Winchester is not a new and exciting rifle cartridge but it is a very common round in America (been around over 50 years) and powerful as we know. I heard it is effective to 700 yards with the right shooter and conditions.

I am not a long range shooter. Furthest I believe I can hit presently is around 230 yards. But I have not tested myself with my scoped M-1A further than 200 yards in years.

.308 is definitely capable at long range. My Win M70 HBV has no issues putting rounds on steel targets at 800-900 yards. I have not tried 1000 yards because I lack the facilities to do so!
