Is there a particular die set hat works best when relaoding for the M1A? I have seen two variations from RCBS; the F/L and Small Base. Any thoughts?

This is a Loaded question, really based on personal preference and experience.

I use Dillon that are made by Redding. I have a different seater die for both 147 gr. and another for 168 gr.

Every one's mileage will differ. Always buy the best you can afford ONCE!

It's personal preference.

I personally use the Lee Die Set (full length). In my M1A, I've never had any issues using a full length resized reloads in my guns. But there are people out there that will need to use the small die sets.

I have always loaded with RCBS dies and have thousands of rounds thru the .30-06 set. I got small base for my M1As and they have worked fine. Just bought an XDIE and have loaded a few but have not used it enough to determine if there is really any advantage.

I use a Small Base die when making loads for my brother's Savage .308 otherwise it won't chamber the round

I use a Full Length die for my GI barreled M14sa's...big and roomy chambers
