I have been half way looking into joining a gun club and am rather new to the area. If anyone here lives in the St. Charles area and has any info, I would like to hear it.

Thank you,

A few years back, I to was looking for a range in my area. I finally ended up on the web. There was a sight called finding a rifle range.com, or something along those lines, that got me what I wanted. Listed by state. dozier

You will have to do the rest of the Work
I go to the Highland Illinois range $10 a pop works for me Downside it is only a 100 yard range
Thanks charles, It's nice to let your "fingers do the walking" to cull out what you are looking for in a rifle range. dozier

There is a free range in Wright City about 40 min from St. Charles (where I was born and raised!) called Reifschneider, but:
1) it only goes to 100 yards
2) you can ONLY shoot paper on the target backing provided (which is old strips of carpet nailed to 2x4s that are stuck into the ground) NO bringing your own target stands even if they are holding paper.
3) no range masters, so you get some interesting shooters somedays (although officers stop by frequently to make sure people are not taking bowling balls and old TVs to destroy. Those people will be written tickets, so be careful)
4) you'll find that with no range masters some peoples lack of saftey will cause you to sit in you car for 1.5 hours waiting for the dummys to leave...

BUT it is FREE...

There is also Busch Wildlife shooting range that's not too far away (maybe 30 min?)
http://mdc.mo.gov/regions/st-louis/august-busch-conservation-area-shooting-range
1) $3.00 an hour.
2) 25, 50, 75, 100 yard ranges
3) very safe range (great Range Officers)

...it's worth my $3.00 to not get shot by an idiot.

also if you shoot handguns there is a GREAT indoor range called TOP GUN
http://www.topgunss.com/
It's about 35 min away too, but if you want to shoot indoors, this is the place (great firearms selection too, they have over 100 guns that you can rent to try them out before you by that model)
little more pricey if i recall, but worth it. dont think they will allow rifles over .223 but not positive.

hope this helps.
