Guys
Need Help. I need to contact Pac West Arms. They made Ar-15 receivers.
I'm looking for definitive list of pre ban verses post ban serial numbers.
Several different sources say it was 35,222, but, several others sources say the post ban lowers have the year prefix in the serial number.
The Receiver in question is #40XXX.
Thanks
Sante

I understand that PWA went o.o.c. several years prior to the ban and all PWA lowers are pre-ban.

I just sold my last 11 of these new i had bought directly from PWA in late 93
my invoice is dated: 2/17/94 last ser# is 2581X
PWA INC
dba Pac West Arms
2729 Glenmore CT S.E.
Olympia WA 98501

206 438 3983

They where very good quality & no longer in business, i do believe they sold post ban lowers for awhile & your ser# is up there to the point w/o an invoice you have no proof.

Sell it in a non ban state or use it within the AWB guidelines in your area.

Just out of curiosity or am I missing something here. But since the sunsetting of the Brady bill the pre and post ban thingy went away with the exception of imports. Is there something special aboutt these pre ban receivers or is it just a prefrence thing.

Steve, I believe some state still have their own version of the AWB on teh books. States can go tougher laws than the Feds, and some did. Lucky to live in indiana, where we don't have to worry about that stuff...for now.....

NY NJ CONN & Mass are the ones the gents are looking for the preban lowers as they have their own "state" ban in place of the Federal Ban almost identical.

Some of the states may ask you provide proof the lower was actually a complete AW prior to the ban or the lower is not grandfathered, that is a sticky situation in itself.

as for a cut-off serial number ???

Bushmaster & Colt have the best records and most Colt went out as a complete gun so one obstacle out of the way buying the Colt.

PWA Commando

I have a old I know 70's PWA Commando A1, not the A1A

SN is 6XXX thats six thousand

It' the Upper that is very diffrent then all the other I have seen.
It has a 10.5" barrel with the 5.5" flash suppressor old school flash suppressor,
that I am told that ATF now considers a silencer ?? suppressor ? ? ?

I did some research
The upper is an m16A1 type upper (Colt bolt and bolt carrier but it can accept a fully auto bolt. It is also the M16 sear relief in the bolt, not the AR15 relief). The upper is marked near the rear sight post as being made by LAR / Martin Marietta (Army Spares Contractor).
This weapon is completly unblocked and all it needs to go full auto is a registered sear and the right fire control parts.

This rifle was issued and used by IDF commandos. colt parts, triliux scope, and the fire control was replaced. the barrel was 10 or 11.5 in, and the extended flash hider was permanently attached. by real deal i mean i believe this was used by IDF.

Does anyone know anything about this weapon ?
