I recently correctly shimmed the gas lock on my Socom16 and got about a 6" POI shift (up, at about 50M.) Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious.

Poi

Anything done to any part attached to the barrel will result in a POI change.

When I unitized and shimmed mine the POI shifted about 3 inches higher and to the right. The good thing is the groups went from 3" to 1" so I guess it works.

+1 Ted Brown, anytime I have made any modification to the barrel or gas system the POI changed.

Mine exhibited a change of only one inch high. Luckily it was in the same measure as the rear sight click adjustments. It would have upset me if it was,.. say...1 1/2 ".......a half inch off is unacceptable for me, and I quit using Kentucky windage as a youngster.
