Pawn shop find now with range report!

Been looking for a nice M1A for a month or so........ Happened up on 1 in a pawn shop - A LNIB "Collector" rifle in the 149K SN# range, looks to be all GI parts minus receiver & rear sight, it's got a MINT TRW barrel, Win TG & a HR bolt - Rifle looks to be unfired & still has the HS hangtag attached (1.633) - I got it for $1150 out the door DI5

UPDATE...... MAN is it a shooter! - The rifle was DRY as a bone, no lube at all to speak of, i cleaned & lubed it then test fitted the action to several synthetic stocks, found one that fits VERY tight with loads of band pressure - Checked HS then lug contact..... Only 1 side had any real contact so i started swapping bolts til i found a "good" one..... Put a nice SA bolt in it & with NO lapping i have good contact on both sides plus a little tighter HS (1.632) - Function was 100% with RG, SA & Port ammo - The barrel is PERFECTLY indexed, front sight is centered & i didn't need ANY real windage on the rear to get center hits on the targets....... I was shooting at rocks (baseball to cantaloupe sized) from about 100 out to just under 400yds, this rifle is DEADLY accurate, even from a poor shot like myself RNGR3

Wow! Great price! Just curious, what about the rifle makes it a collector?
I am also curious as to what make is the receiver. Sounds like you may have made a score. Congrats.

149K serial number, Head space hang tag (1.633).
Sounds like a Springfield Armory from the "better" days?

If it is, he made a killing at $1150.00.
That was my thought, if it is the deal is screamin'.
Sure you didn't steal it at that price? When you can find them they are selling for over $1600.00 locally. Congrats!
USGI stock, too, I assume. SAI made a nice run of those rifles. They weren't highly promoted but they were in the catalog and sold out as long as SAI had the parts to assemble them. That's a good find.
Congradulations JD! How long did you have to think about that before you ponied up the green? 2-3 seconds. I wonder how many people are going to go back looking for it thinking "Man I made a mistake."

Springfield sold them as a "collectors edition" rifle (model# 9103) all had USGI barrels & stocks, some were loaded with GI TG, bolts, GC, etc while others had commerical parts
Congratulations on your score
What part of the Country are you in?
In the St louis metro area where I live, pawn shops are "Nuts" has had an HK93 for sale for 8 years asking price $3400 it might be worth it if it was NIB but alas it is not
Awesome find JD! I must not be hitting up the right shops..
And I can't find a good deal on a screwdriver at a pawn shop.

I bought a Loaded Collectors Model in 1996. Because it came with a med NM barrel, it was not USGI. All other parts were USGI. At that time it came with a pristine USGI stock(no dings/all DoD markings) and a USGI fiberglass stock. SAI did these "collectors" at various times since they've been in business. Unless a new source of supply for USGI parts become available, I doubt we will see any future runs of the Collectors. BTW JD, keep any paperwork/original box on this model as it might add some value in the future. dozier
Pawn shop find

You guy's are p)(@$)([email protected](me off! All I see in Pawn shops are used Makita drills and cheap guitars.ALCOHOLIC1
I have to agree with some posters that my pawn shops are just cheap crap items. Being in the Notheast area there are to many of us to contend with on screaming deals like that. Congrads JD & share with some pictures please. At least give the rest of us a chance to drool alittle.

That's the Green eyed monster of envy GI6
