My LRB M14SA is very new - only about 200 rounds through it so far - I own 10 mags - all BRW or Winchester, except for one O-M mag. This one mag won't latch into the rifle, whether it's loaded or empty. Note that all the other mags are a very snug fit, requiring a solid slap to seat them.

It does appear that the rectangular retaining block (proper name?) on the O-M mag is a tad bit longer (extends further towards the bottom of the mag) than the others. I'll mic it tonight to verify the dimensions. Can this be filed down?

Otherwise, the only other thing I can think of is that the rifle has a Rooster's Op Rod Spring Guide in it - could this part (or the whole rifle, for that matter) just need some breaking in, or is it common to find an occasional USGI mag that just won't work in a given rifle?

Thanks

I find that the rooster33 oprod spring guide works fantastic for locking the mags in.
What you might want to try which I have done is remove the spring guide, spring, oprod, & bolt. Leave the bolt out & put the other parts back in. Then you can see how your mags are or aren't locking in.

Well, Six - I guess I was a bit quick on the typing and slow on the memory - that should read:

all BRW or HR-R, except for one O-M mag.

mic'ing them, I get:

BRW S-1 (right-side up) - 0.912", 0.915, 0.908, 0.902
BRW S-1 (up-side down) - 0.909, 0.906
HR-R - 0.910, 0.908
O-M - 0.917

Hmmm... any other suggestions before I start filing? Or should I just find someone who's rifle likes this mag and trade for one mine likes?
