How rare are Barnette turned Obermeyer heavy 5r barrels, and are Obermeyer 5r barrels still available?

What should a new Barnette turned Obermeyer 5r barrel sell for?

I performed a search regarding Obermeyer barrels but still had these questions.

Thanks in advance for any information.

They are still available as of last month but you will have to do all your own final machining (chambering, profiling, threading, etc.). As far as I know they are not available as as finished product for semi-automatic rifles.

Obermeyer's website says they still make M14, M1 and AR15 barrels. Don't know if they make 5R, I assume they do, I have one on my M1A.

The 5R is Boot's bread and butter barrel so you bet he makes them... Now getting one finished contoured is the hard part. But I know someone with tools, nice big tools...

They are a great shooting barrel. A REAL tough to find item and with that being said there is one on my Main Match Rifle. They are in a whole different class than any other Barrel made for the M14 platform. I will send a couple pic's to Hyteck to post. This rifle was built by a true NM Armour with talent&ability. He even made the stock which isn't number 1 fence post material. For those who know me this isn't boasting, but sharing.

To All,

Take a look at the bottom of this page of their website, shows they make M14, M1 and M16/AR15 contours.

Just so no one is misled, these are basic contoured only and short chambered. The have a lot of finish machining left to do.
They are NOT drop in barrels.

I think the correct description is rough contoured, not even short chambered. I oredred 2 barrels from Boots and they are as I described.

On another note, I do have anot Obermeyer barrel completely done up by Boots himself, ready to headspace to any receiver. Boots did this barrel for a well known Palma shooter fron Virginia. I've been saving it for my Bula rear lugged 8888 S/N, but now I think I would rather turn my own from a blank or rough contoured. I am not actively looking to sell it, otherwise I would have posted it in the classified ads. If anyone is interested, send me an email, [email protected] . Warning it will not be cheap, it will be more than Krieger.

Art L,

Here is an opportunity for you to re-barrel your shooter, it must need a new barrel by now. 5R from Obermeyer or even JY Wolfe's offerings are the way to go. As I mentioned this 5R is pricey, but will let it go for what I have in it. Having said that for less money the other 5R offering might suit just fine, Tony might chime in on how his JY's 5R shoots for him.

Nez,
Having a barrel made by Boots is like having a barrel from Harry Pope back in the day. I'm waiting for that pipe fitter down Texas way to start drilling&rifling so I can have one his. I want to be first in line and this stir the pot in the Filipino kitchen aka Bamban Barrel Barrel Barn. Phil, you&Art can fight over the second.
