DONT KNOW IF I'M ALONE IN MY THINKING HERE BUT... I BELIEVE IN HAVING AS MANY MAGS AS POSSIBLE. SEEMS TO ME THAT THE MAGS WILL BREAK BEFORE THE RIFLE DOES. SO I GET AS MANY AS POSSIBLE. THE RIFLES WILL ALWAYS BE AROUND ITS THE MAGS THAT I WORRY ABOUT. I HAVE THREE AR-15'S AND OVER ONE HUNDRED MAGS FOR THEM. CALL ME CRAZY BUT ITS A NICE FEELING SEEING ALL THOSE MAGS SITTING THERE. I'VE GOT TWO M1A'S AND TWENTY MAGS AND WANT TWENTY OR THIRTY MORE. DOES ANYBODY ELSE SUFFER FROM THIS SICKNESS?

I have a dozen, more than I want to tote around loaded. Think I will carry mostly Bandoliers and several mags. :D

I guess they would be a good investment for the future. No telling what they will cost, as time goes by.

Yup, I also think mags are a necessity and because I don't see them getting any cheaper in the future I've stocked up as well. I also agree with DJ that it may become a future investment as well if the supplies do dry up and no one starts USGI spec reproductions. I've bought a good supply (nothing like you have for your AR though) of new or as new USGI type mags for every day use and a bunch of NEW USGI mags (still in wrap) for future use or maybe to hold on to as a future investment.

I like to think of this as "planning ahead". If you can afford it, I think you got a good thing going.

I have 8 - 20rd mags for my Springfield, most of which are as new. The three that I take to the range for shooting are also in great shape. I learned while in the Corps. Clean your mags inside and out. Everyone thinks to clean their rifle, but if your mags get really dirty they may fail to work properly. I also have 8 - 20rd mags for my AR. plus a few 30 rounders. The M-16 mags especially need to be cleaned often as they are made of aluminum. If you store magazines I find it best to put a light coating of oil on them and then wrap them in newspaper. I've had mags like that sit for years and open them up and they are perfect.

My figuring is to have 8 - 10 mags per weapon. That should suffice. The idea is to gather more weapons
