noob in Vancouver, WA. Originally from around Savannah, GA. No M1A1, just lurking and trying to get some knowledge. Many years ago I went the FN/FAL/StG-58 clone route and find it hard to justify a M1A1. Do have a couple of Garands, M1 carbines and many ARs. Oh, I did carry an M-14 in college, so you get 3 guess to where I went to college

I lost all of my rifles & handguns in a mishap on Rio Grande when the barge hit a sandbar and sank.

Welcome on board bigdadytid, pull up an old ammunition crate and sit awhile. This here Gun Board is a great place for information on our beloved M14 Battlerifle and military surplus ammunition for feeding her. Again welcome on board and have yourself a great weekend and a Happy New Year... Thank you for your service to our country, America is better off because of you.

I have a cousin that was all for FAL and after having some trouble getting it accurate. After shooting a couple of my M14's he finally broke down and bought an M1A.

Don't get me wrong the FAL is a great rifle but it has a couple shortcomings compared to the M14 and the M14 has a few shortcomings to the FAL it all depends which ones you value more.

I don't want to make this a endless battle of M14 vs FAL so im just going to stop and say WELCOME FROM FLORIDA!

Welcome from SD. Son-in-law has a FAL and I looked long and hard at it but decided that I liked the M1A better-think I made a good choice. 'Twis 6 of one and half-a-dozen of the other-until I shot my M1A, then no contest.

Welcome from the northern end of I-5. You really need to get with it. Heck, you've already got the "government training" completed. Gonna go out tomorrow and bring in the New Year, correctly, emptying some factory brass to add to the reloading brass. 7.62, of course.

Welcome from MN. I used to live in WA (near Spokane) in my younger days and still have family in Mukilteo and Vancouver.
