I guess if anyone wants one, now's the time to get one. Apparently Zastava is ceasing production of them in order to fill overseas (ISIS?) orders for 7.62x39 rifles.

Them and the WASR aren't very good AK's to begin with. I'd spend the extra money on a better built AK...
Ah, there isn't a thing wrong with WASR's or Zastava's, pure com block goodness,

my latest is a Serbian M92 that Atlantic Firearms did a limited custom house build off of, very nice rifle!

Here is the M92 with my Atlantic Firearms Polish VAF-47, built with a US G2 trigger, US receiver and barrel and a matching Polish AK kit.

The WASR that I have is one of the Iraqi Contractor rifles, it was built with an almost matching 1985 Romanian AKM, it is a very nice, straight AK clone. I have a brand new Draco pistol on a Fed Ex truck heading my way now, I will give a report on it but I hear that they are very nice too, worth the $429 that I paid for it.

My WASR, Jambo!!!!

Or I could go high class and take my Arsenals out to party, on top is my 107CR and the 107FR is on the bottom

I don't know, off hand, short barrel open sights short sight radius repeated hits at 300 yards. Hmmmm? Most people on this board couldn't do that shot with a fine rifle like the M1A. Maybe someone is standing behind him with a steel plate and a little hammer.

I have an OPAP and a WASR
OPAP is much heavier seems to be much better fit and finish.
WASR is fine for my purposes just target shooting.

I'd love to get an old preban Chinnese Poly or Norinco but not for the price they fetch now.

Zastava AK's can be excellent but it really depends on who built it.The same for the lowly Wasr. I have seen more work then not work and if Century built it its really luck of the draw IMHO.

If you want a really bullet proof AK get a Vepr

5.56 VEPR's have been going the way of the unicorn and VEPR's in all calibers have been spotty delivery. All of them are built like tanks.

The 5.56 AK's really are a nice addition to a rifle line up IF it runs. I had a Valmet 76 many years back and its single biggest issue was non-existent and painfully expensive magazines.
I also had a Galil ARM that was a damn nice rifle but sold it when prices went stupid high.

Fast forward to today and I have a Vepr in 5.56 that is a keeper.

AK mags in 5.56 have a few different flavors and not all mags work in all 5.56 guns and that can be a source of frustration. The Circle 10 Bulgarian mags are top quality.
