I just got this one day ago and replaced trigger group, op rod, stock and rear sight assembly just for S&G's. Took it out today, 39 deg. raining and windy, about froze my tail off, reminded me of Basic Training at Fort Knox, Ky. in Sept- Nov '66. Shot 30 rounds flawless operation. I didn't try to zero, that can wait till a little warmer weather. I think she'll make another fine piece for the collection. Headspace is less than half bolt closure on USGI Field Reject. I'll watch the headspace and replace barrel and bolt when needed. This one came with extra Winnie bolt and TRW op rod.

Dig,

I've got to get out to the range and rezero everything since my fall field strip and storage cleaning. When the weather breaks I'll hot foot it out and give these babies a work out. Unlike your beautiful year round weather, this 30 deg. snow on the ground stuff sucks. If we all lived in Paradise it would be Paradise anymore. We spent our Honeymoon in Hawaii and have always wanted to get back there. We got married in Dec of 68 with no Honeymoon and I went to Nam in Jan. 69 so, R&R was our Honeymoon in June 69. We had a great time for a week, even saw a few of the sights out side the motel room. 8) :D

If you need some R&R from the cold, you'll always be welcome in Hawaii... However, Waikiki has really become the commerical "tourist" trap... so I would probably point you towards, Maui, Kauai or the Big Island (the one that has the erupting volcano)... much more privacy, less crowds, more sights to see...

And it may be case of reverse "envy", because when I saw pictures of snowfall that Six sent, wo... it was outright gorgeous!!! I have never seen or had a "white" Christmas... I guess "the grass always looks greener...."

Aloha and Best Wishes!
