This is the latest rifle I have added to my sniper collection. Acquired it from an active duty Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. It is not clip slotted so I added a Weaver T10 scope left from my early days of Rifle Silhouette. Added the sling I got off this forum from Cass.

Wow, that looks great(!). Other than clip slot and thumb relief maching, the build looks correct, and its nice to have that USMC Weapon book stamped to go with the rifle. The 86' dated MRT sling is a nice touch too.

FWIW, one of my shooting buddies who I see at the Quantico vintage rifle matches uses a very similar rifle with T10 scope for these matches. He likes the fine cross hair and 1/4 click adjustments on the T10 scope, better than the Mil-Dot reticle and adjustments on an original Unertl 10X. He said he shoots much better with the Weaver T10, and since it was used on a few M40A1s in the late 1970s for a Recon unit, it is considered a correct scope of sorts. Anyhow, here's that buddies replica M40A1 with T10 that looks just like your rifle, and below it is a real USMC M40A1 that was brought out during that match in 2017 or 18.

Anyhow, nice pick-up, it looks great. I really hope to get my M40A1 replica built this summer, depending on the builder's availability...

You Did Well

Very nice. Have a soft spot for rifles that one can get behind and see how the run. This one will see years of enjoyment from the bench to going after the hogs in the Wilds of Texas. Grayson would have a smile for this one.
