Don't take it personal, I had my 1907 NM sling on bass ackwards on my XM25 and folks were quick to point it out. I too have since corrected that social faux pas.
Does anyone know the rational behind how a sling is to be on a rifle, beyond procedure and tradition? Now on my M1A, the hardware is closer to magazine where it can touch and make noise; before it was farther away and seemed quieter when moving. I’ve seen vintage pictures in the field where the sling was both ways on both M14 and M16 rifles.
The sling on my XM16E1 is also incorrect, but it’s staying that way.
