Just checking in. I have a SA M1A loaded CA model, I have put quite a few rounds through it and love it. I have been trying to mount a scope on it without much success and thought I would poke around here and ask a few questions.

First I would like to say welcome aboard!!!

I hope you are asking about mount recommendations. If not disregard what I wrote. Are you having a problem with mounting a specific mount?

I have the SAI Gen three mount. I shot it loose after 150 rounds. The front screw came loose. I can only speak of this mount, I and other here will more than likely not recommend it as your first choice. Under the advice of the forum member I place some loc tite on the screw with the hope of eliminating my problem. I have not put any rounds down rage since last fall. I expect to get out soon seeing how spring is upon us here in the northeast. Yeah I know I see pictures of you die hards out there laying in the snow I guess I am getting soft in my mid years. Anyway back to your question. Sadlak ARMS and Smith Enterprise seem to pop up more often than not. Check these sites

Sadlak makes them in three metals and have a new light weight airborne version
Smith Enterprise has a few mounts and may make your choice even more confusing.
Not to sure about the Basset machine mount. I know there are members using them I would imagine they are going to chime in and give you an opinion.
I am sure if you google m14 scope mounts you can spend an evening going blind with options.
Hope this help getting you in the right direction. Like I said before I am sure you will have other members that can give you first hand knowledge of the other mounts. Good luck

Thanks for the replies.

So here is the deal with the mount issue. I already had a Leupold vari-X II scope 9x40mm, and bought an A.R.M.S.® #18™ M21/14 Scope Mount(not in my picture) I installed the mount and leveled it. I went to the range to sight it in at 100yds. My first shot was off the paper high(zero on elevation knob)GI8 I turned the elevation knob all the way to the minus side and still shot 6" inches high on the target consistantly. Maybe my scope is not compatible with this setup?

I did remove the scope and work with the onsite gunsmith, he said the mount was level.

any help would be appreciated.
