New to forum and my Norinco

First off let me just say this is a great forum . Ive been a lurker for awhile and finally decided I should post something so why not show off my Norinco. Ive had it about 5 years now with no troubles so far, I installed a flash hider with bayo lug as it came with a solid hider no lug when i bought it also installed a stripper clip guide and just recently installed a USGI stock took a little fitment with a file in a few places but looks great , well at least I think so . Next is a dummy switch to fill in the holes. Sorry for the pics with my messing work bench but hey its pretty much the only man space I have . Again thanks for the great forum I hope to get alot more great info here .

Welcome ludie. Thanks for the photos. Nothing to be ashamed of. At least the bench looks used. I can't stand a clean bench. Always looks too much like a posed picture. Good shooting.

Does your rifle have a USGI op rod? If not it has a rare Chinese op rod with the notch for the full auto feature and not the made for the US model with the rear slant cut op rod.

Welcome to the forum, your rifle looks great with the wood stock. Dont be ashamed of your work bench mine is about the same.

you know ive wondered but I never found a maker stamp on it but i wasnt sure if it was original to the rifle or not

Wow! a heel marked Norinco. Can we get a pic of the heel markings. You can block out the serial number if you want.

If not marked, then its Chinese. The gray finish will match the other parts of the rifle. Plus it will look right with the fake full auto kit.

there is no serial number on the heel its just the marks century put on there or what i believe is there marks.

Welcome aboard the M14 forum and that's a very nice looking weapon you have. Since you've installed your riles action into a USGI M14 stock what method did you use to keep the op rod guide from coming unlatched due to the short Chinese connector backing out?

All i did was drop it into the stock after filing down some of the rear portion tomake my receiver fit , it has a real tight lock up with the trigger housing . I havent tried firing since the swap but the op rod doesnt pop out when you rack it back so hopefully there isnt gonna be a problem . I didnt know about this with the norinco in a USGI stock . The stock it came out of was a GI stock well atleast it looked like one that someone filled the selector hole on with filler.

Has anyone ever seen a thread with images of work/reloading benches?

Perhaps a contest is in order to see who can pile things deepest per square inch or something like that.

Since your rifle was already in a USGI stock, odds are that the previous owner has already fitted a USGI connector to your rifle. You can easily determine this. The factory connector is shorter than the USGI connector and is flush with the receiver.. The USGI connector sticks out about 1/4" or so from the receiver.

We Canuckleheads also got several Chginese 14s that were originally FULL AUTO. These have the op rod dismount notch in the center, and the rear leg cut off flush with the receiver, and often, the side mount area ground flush at an angle.

Some of these "sporterised" formerly full auto M14 rifles have been nicely polished and reblued with a shiny/commercial type blue finish instead of the usual rough parkerising. And some came in very nice wood ... ??CHERRY??

The popsicle stick mod is quite popular up here in the North
However, since I am a discriminateing Gun Smiter,
I cut up a long strip of walnut,
correct for height and thickness,
and have been trimming pieces to length, rounding off the ends, and epoxying them in place.

If you forget this simple step, your connector pin will walk out during firing, causin the nag to stop feeding.
OOPS!!

OR,
they cut up a piece of Mountain Bike front axle to the longer length and replace the previously short connector pin ... which is a much more technically difficult feat than gluing in a popsicle stick.

Very nice looking rifle

And your bench is a dang sight cleaner than mine right now.

I also epoxied a piece of hardwood into the cutout of my GI stock when I fit the Norinco action in like Laz describes.
