FedEx showed up this morning, and the same guy who has been coming to my house every now and then over the past four years had a long rectangular box in his hands. Based upon past trips, delivery man knew exactly what it was (as did I).

Had received two field grades this past Spring, both of which had reparked grade receivers with eventually no parking on any of the other parts, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Boy, what a difference $100 makes! Received a December '41, six-digit SA. Reparked, but so were all of the other parts so all matched. Had a 10/53 LMR barrel: TE 3, MW 1. All other parts were nicely parked, and in good shape. Except for barrel and rear sight (DRC), I believe everything was SA. New commercial walnut furniture, but no CMP cartouche.

Very pleased. Thank you CMP.

Duce, LMR was a SA sub-contractor in Birmingham Alabama during the 50's. It was a small shop and they were known for the outstanding barrels they made. If yours is in good shape be proud of it.

From a Garand collectors asso. Journal article .
Oh... I know exactly what LMR barrels are. However, out of my, um, ...several... Garands, this is my first LMR. Looking forward to seeing how it shoots. Even with the receiver leg having a -14 drawing number. GI2
All this time I thought they supplied barrels for IHC and H&R?
This barrel (10/53) is not original to the receiver (12/41). No doubt a take-off from another receiver (mostly likely IHC or H&R).
I think this stock really needs a good dose of Teak oil?
It's fresh out of the box it came in. Definitely needs some additional work. When I find some time, I'll try to work a little magic into it. But not with teak oil; too many teak trees are unnecessarily killed in making that stuff! GI2

So that rifle I first posted last October now looks a little different. It's now sitting in a different set of furniture. And while that furniture looked about the same as the rifle in my initial pics, I tried to perform a little magic, and here's how she turned out...
