Hi everyone.
After years of shooting my dad's M1 Garand I Stumbled up on the CMP and bought my own this spring. I got a beautiful rifle and love to shoot it. Problem is I want to keep it that way. So I got the idea to buy an M1A to shoot regularly that way I can keep the Garand in pristine shape and pass it on to my son. Well last week and deal fell into my lap that I couldn't pass up, so I jumped on it. Had the chance to shoot it on Sunday and love it. I bought it secondhand from a fiend and unfortunately he did not keep the box. How can I find out whether I have the STD or LOADED model?

Welcome from Illinois

Call SA with the serial number and they will tell you.

The loaded will have the medium barrel and it should be marked NM.
The rear site also had more granular capability but you probably wouldn't be able to spot it easily.

Welcome to our little corner of the web. The people here are wonderful, helpful, and respectful to each other. I can not say that about all forums.

You can find out a lot of history about your M1 which can be a lot of fun.
