I'm wanting an optical sight, preferrably something with bullet drop compensation or similar (ART or Mil dot), and relatively rugged.

I have a latter generation Springfield scope mount.

Q: Is there a brand(s) to stay away from. Am I asking for problems getting more moving parts in a ranging scope like a Leatherwood? Are they even worth it?

Thanks in advance,

scopes

I bought the leatherwood 6-24x50 and tried it on my nm m1a and decided it belonged on the remington 700 instead. leatherwood also sells a 50mm objective dot sight that I prefer to any of the high dollar dot sights or holographic affairs I've tried. Unlimited eye relief, super fast target aquisition, it withstands cold better than anything else and it's only $80! US Optics and Nightforce are making the best scopes now. The Leupold 2.5-10x50 is a nice $ compromise.
