Ok. I want to get a bush barrel installed on my SA M1A standard. I think Fulton charges about $300-$350 installed. My question is, how hard would it be to sell the Winchester barrel that is on it now (to help off-set the cost), and about how much do they go for? It has about 2500 rounds through it, maybe 3000. Do they sell like hotcakes, or are they hard to get rid of?

I heard or read somewhere that cutting a USGI barrel down to bush length can ruin it, making it shoot a couple feet high or something of the sort, that's why I want a new one installed. Is this true? Thanks.

I don't believe you would have any trouble selling the barrel depending on what the chamber and muzzle spec out to be.... I would venture to say that it won't spec out to a new or like new barrel, but could be wrong.... Value of the barrel would be contingent on the above. MAybe someone with more knowlege about the value will jump in here....JMHO

when cutting a USGI barrel you can chip the chrome lining. if this happens the barrel is toast. you definitely can sell your winchester barrel to offset your cost. if you have TE and ME gauges use those. and the closer each end is to 0, the more you will get for it.
