im thinking about buying a Mossberg 590 12GA 20CB GRS PRK.

dose this model have the metal trigger gaurd and metal safety? dose it have the military Bbl which is heavier?

are Heat Shield worth getting?

I don't have the Mossberg infront of me right now, but as I recall the trigger group has a lot of plastic, I do remember the guard is plastic. One problem with the Mossberg. You can't have a heat shield with ghost ring sights. Shooting a tactical course with one reload in the middle heats up the barrel quite a bit. If I were carrying this into combat I would want something with a heat shield, but I bought this for fun on a range. After my turn on the range I can set it down and let it cool.

I have the Mossberg 590A1 and am very happen with it. Trigger group is completely metal along with the safety and has a heavy walled barrel. When I first got it I patterned it with 00 buck and wasn't to impressed with the results. I had a full choke installed and amazed by the tight pattern. From 20 to 30 yards it shoots a constant 5 to 6 inch pattern. I then shot it a 60 yards at a 2 x 3 foot pice of cardboard and all hit within a group of 1 1/5 feet. It's a very realiable weapon.

Below is my 590 12ga 8+1. Features M-14 USGI sling, Limbsaver slip-on pad, simple 5-shell holder, heatshield, and ghost ring and soldered front sight. Theres no need to get all fancy on a shotgun. My shotgun works a s well as any other standard 12gauge. Clean her and dress her to your likeing, feed her what she likes and she shall treat you fine. :evil:
