What's the Difference between a NATO and Short Chamber?

Who likes the Fulton handguards? I saw two M1A's at a local gunshop and they both had plastic looking, flimsy, bendy feeling brown handguards. Is the Fulton somewhat thick? I was considering getting the black epoxy coated ones. does anyone have any close up pics of this black handguard? I see alot of pics with brown plasitc looking handguards. Are these all from fulton, or does someome else make them?

I read on another forum that the certain US goverment agencies are taking an interest in LRB's operations. If Lou sells his receivers to Uncle same, will that mean all of us who have LRB recievers now have "REAL" M14's and not repros? (assuming all other parts are USGI)

NATO chamber specs are longer than commercial 308 Win specs. not a huge difference, but a chamber on the long side of NATO spec can be unsafe to shoot comnmercial ammo in.

short-chambered refers to a new barrel that has not been fully chambered, it was left short intentionally. before or after the barrel is installed, the barrel is reamed for the headspace for that particular receiver bolt combination.

there are no chrome-lined short chambered barrels 'cause you can't just finish ream chrome chambers

To build on that, I had a GI fiberglass handguard. It cracked at 1000 rounds. The Fulton plastic one has gone 2300 rounds since then.
