Fellas,
Have had this in the safe for many years, just retired, so now I can get enjoy the stuff I have collected.
This receiver is 1941, and the barrel is 52. Some so called collector said this could be the original barrel, does not make since o me.
What are your thoughts?

What is the drawing number on the barrel?
I bet they meant "original barrel" to refer to when the M1D was made and what it came with. I think "correct" would have been a better choice of words.....

I think your serial number puts that one in August 1941.

I got my first M1D back in the 90's when the CMP first got them in. I have had a lot of fun with it over the years. You have a very nice peace of history. Enjoy

He probably meant when it was converted to an M1D, making the barrel original to the configuration.

You guy's are rights, it is 1941 receiver, I got it from the CMP in 97.
Thanks for the Scott Duff article, it now makes sense to me.
