I picked up a McMillan M1A stock from Dan over at Dan's Shooting Supply (good guy to deal with) and was wondering if any of you guys out there have ever installed a recoil pad like the ones that McMillan has on their other stocks. I'm a purist when it comes to my M14 which is why I have two.....one will be my classic battle rifle (walnut stock, iron sights and real flash hider) while my other one will be my version of the M25. Now I really want this thing to be comfortable when I shoot it in weird positions at the sniper meets. What I have planned is to have the hinge section of the stock filled and the back of the stock milled flat so I can install a recoil pad and have it shaped the same contour as the stock. What pad do the guys over at McMillan use for their high end stocks?
