Went to an indoor range today and finally got to shoot some different ammo that I bought about a month and a half ago.

All ten shot groups were shot out of my CZ 455 topped with a Mueller APV. Magnification was set to 8x and all groups were shot at 25yds. I wanted to shoot indoors so as to take away any wind factor.

Not bad...for my skill anyway!

Seems like my rifle really likes the Federal GM Ultramatch and the Eley Tenex...of course they were the two most expensive brands I've bought!

I also tried out some "bulk" ammo. Honestly, most of it shot pretty well...to my surprise.

This particular Mini Mag shot very well!

About the only ammo that my rifle didn't seem to like was the HV Mini Mag HP (1,260fps).

As I've said before, this rifle is awesome! It is the most accurate rifle I've ever owned. While others at the range were blasting away and just making noise (including someone who was shooting an AK type rifle rapid fire at 10yds), I was at the end lane shooting ragged holes. Hey, I can't afford to waste ammo! BGRIN1

What, no wind to put up with, you are missing all the fun! Friend and I just returned from shooting our 22's at 50, 100, and 200yds. He is shooting Compass Lake Engineering dedicated 22lr AR15 upper and I a Rem. 40X. He is using the Super Sniper 10X optic and I my old Unertl 16x. Ammo is SK match grade(not the very best, 2nd in line I would say) and it gives good performance in both rifles. Either rifle will give pretty much one enlarged hole at 50yds. and both of us could keep 1" groups of 5 or more at the 100yd. target, from bench/bag. Once you are on at 50, come up some 6moa for the 100yd. target and out to the 200 it will take some 17-19 moa more depending on ammunition. At the 200yd. target we were getting 2moa + with some right to left wind and our groups were just below the X ring. Only using 17moa and did come up to 19moa and group shifted to top of the X. Wind at 200 would kick some of our shots out 3-4" one way or the other but we did call those. Both of us put more than 150rnds. down range today and it is a real experience to shoot the 22 at ranges many find not possible. Give it a try someday and would warn you that it becomes habit forming. Shooting at these distances with the 22 is an excellent way to learn to read the wind.

Will definitely have to do that sometime. The main reason I wanted to shoot at 25yds today with no wind was to see how well my rifle shot with each different type of ammo. I wanted to see what kind of ammo I should stock up on. The way I see it, if Billary gets elected next month, I would bet there will be a huge run on ammo/guns so I wanted to see which ammo I should buy now.

Forgot to add a pic of this Eley Target ammo. But for the flyer, I thought this ammo shot very well, almost as good as the Tenex and the Ultramatch. It is also a 1/3rd of the price of the above two brands. Just bought two cases worth!

I recently got an older Anschutz-Savage 64 and thought I'd try some of the Aguila Standard I bought through the CMP. I was pretty happy with the results at 50yds. I'm going to order a few different boxes of SK and Eley from Creedmoor to try out.

That's a nice piece smoothy. I also have a Savage-Annie 141 also built on the M-64 action. This one is in a sporter stock that looks almost identical to a Weatherby Mark XXII stock. Just missing the butt pad white spacer and the cap underneath the grip, otherwise they look the same. Great shooters. Dad gave it to me for my 10th birthday in '65, and I've never even considered selling it. -Lloyd BEERCHUG1
