One of my M14s won't reliably keep the mags in place. It seems that the mags are OK (all USGI) since my two M1As hold them fine. Is there a simple solution?

First you need to figure out why the mags are not locking in.

1. It could be that the mag release/lock is defective
2. Could be that the mag well is to tight for the mags to go in all the way and lock.
3. could be a worn oprod spring guide.
4. Are you inserting the mag on a closed bolt and the mags are loaded? (can be done but a bit more pressure required).

I'm new to all this myself but search magazine not locking in and you will find some good and interesting information. I don't really understand it but you probabally will .

Yes in some cases it is an easy fix

Remove the stock.

Assemble the trigger housing back into the receiver.

Lock the bolt to the rear.

Try inserting the magazine. It is a lot easier to see the problem without the stock present. Sometimes the stock itself is the problem.

Is it a Polytech?
Seem to be a few of them that have that problem.
