Magazine disassembly

I just received a shipment of 10 mags from Ammoman. My question is this: How are the mags disassembled? I want to give them a thorough cleaning before I take them to the range tomorrow. They look very similar to AR-15 20-round mags with the hole in the bottom. Do you just push something in the hole to release the spring pressure and slide the magazine floorplate out? Are the followers as tricky as the AR-15 followers are to re-install?

Yes, you remove the floorplate, then pull the spring & follower out through the bottom of the body. You'll see the "lip" on the one end of the floorplate - that needs to be lifted up to slide the floorplate out of position. I insert a small Allen wrench into the hole to do the job.
the floorplates are very easy to remove if you use a dummy round. the bullet tip fills the hole perfectly. it is probably no coincidence it works that way.
If I can add my .02 here, you can also give a little squirt of oil under each of the three base retaining ears before removing the floorplate as previously described.

I remember the NIW ones I got from Ammoman and it was a real bear trying to disassemble them the very first time.

You have to insert a tool of some kind to pry the front end of the floorplate away from the body. I use a drift punch (it's in my ammo can of cleaning junk), others use an allen wrench/dummy round/screwdriver/etc. You'll see the tab that has to clear the mag body. Then, carefully slide the floorplate off towards the front of the mag. Remember, the spring is behind it. You'll probably have to 'rock' the spring back and forth to clear the lips on the bottom of the mag body.
It isn't too tricky to remove/install the follower, though you do have to twist and rotate it a bit.

I have pics of this, but I can't seem to get to photobucket, so they'll have to wait, I guess....
Thanks for the help. I am going to disassemble all ten of the ones I got from ammoman and clean them inside & out.
