Well I finally got it done after ordering the replacement stock, upper handguard, scope rings, and small parts for the stock.

Specs; LRB M25 receiver, LRB bolt, 22" Saco-Lowell 1/12" Medium Contour NM barrel, Sadlak NM spring guide, NM Flash Hider/Front Sight, AG Composite Stock in "Sniper Gray", Fulton black upper handguard, lightweight buttplate, Fulton strap cheek riser, and Leupold MK III military/police scope 3.5-10x mil dot with tactical capped turrets, and Leupold QD low mount rings.

I had exactly 1mm clearance above the rear sight with the QD low mount rings- almost as if the scope was made for this exact rifle. I've had that scope for probably ten years sitting in the closet after having Leupold re-build it with the mil-dot reticle and updated turrets. Just never had a use for it until now.

Spare parts, a Sadlak Picatinny front rail/sling mount not installed, Harris 6-9" bi-pod not installed. Weight for the rifle without optic approximately 9.6 lbs. A little heavy but with that medium contour barrel- it fits my needs and it still very manageable considering it's less than half a pound heavier than a standard M1A. I may decide to go with a lighter contour barrel later but for now, she feels very solid. Absolutely zero movement with the stock and everything is super tight fitting- had to use a mallet to set the action in the stock. Couldn't be happier with the set up.

Definitely a righteous rifle in all respects. Believe you will very much like the barrel you have, have the same one on my LRB and it's very accurate with about any loads I use.
Enjoy it for many years to come.

Does this barrel twist rate prefer the lighter standard NATO military ball ammo? I was hoping so because primarily I shoot NATO surplus which I have plenty of.

Great rifle and dog.
That dog is my best dog, or at least my most loyal. I have no idea how old she is. She was an expensive rescue pup, former LEO dog supposedly. She gets her own bed in my office. My other two dogs ignore me until it's time to eat or go to training.

7n6,
The 12 twist I have found with the barrel you and I have does just fine with ammo you mentioned. Recently manufactures are going with 10 twist, but that is more suited for the heavier bullets as 168-175 range, but I find no problems with accuracy in the 12 twist for such bullet weights. The much touted SMK 155 Palma bullet is an excellent one, but it's primary purpose was for bolt guns at extended ranges, 600-1000yds. in bolt guns for the needed velocity to really "shine" is just under 3000fps. which is humping a M14, not good on the rifle at all.

Guys I bought this as a factory new LRB second hand for under $2300 with a Boyd's stock. Then added the AG furniture, cheek riser and scope. I didn't build it, those are the specs of what it came with from LRB. I was trying to reduce weight so by adding the AG Composite stock and lightweight buttpad I was able to cut about 11 oz off the top.

Sorry if I confused anyone with it being a home build as all I did was swap furniture essentially.

The actual weight of the rifle with the AG stock comes in at 9.36 lbs which is about 2.6 oz heavier than a standard barreled M14 in a wood stock. Nice thing, this is running it with the scope mount built into the receiver and a Medium Contour National Match barrel. Will update with range data when I get it out there hopefully in the coming weeks.

Good looking M1A

That is one fine looking M1A. That stock style (traditional) and finish I find very attractive.

I suppose I'll always prefer the traditional style stock, in a McMillan of course.

I know the various chassis are supposed to further accurize the rifle, but I've owned two sub1moa Supermatch M1As over the years. I used to tape nickels to the target and shoot holes through them. That's actually real easy when you have an accurate rifle. I've also had an M1A Supermatch in a McMillan stock that never would shoot any better than 1.5 moa. All three of those Supermatches had heavy contour Krieger 1 in 10 twist barrels. The one I have now, my 4th, is a rear lugged, pillar bedded receiver that is in a McMillan 3A "sniper fill" stock. It has a 1 in 12 twist Krieger heavy contour barrel. I haven't gotten the opportunity to see just how accurate this rifle is. I had all the metal parts cryo treated by 300 Below. Next, I'm going to send the barreled receiver and all metal parts to Jon Wolfe for a Nitride bath.

Curious as to what the set up weighted before you changed out the stock. You say you cut about 11oz off the top. But is that after the scope was added, or with out?
