Has anyone got any photos of actual M21 receiver markings? And no, I don't mean XM21, but specifically the M21. I've heard the M14NM markings were ground off and re-engraved over with "M21", but I've never seen any actual photographic confirmation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any "XM21" marked heel made in 1969-1970 automatically became technically an M21 in 1972 when it was adopted as a STD A - even though the heel was still stamped XM21 - it was in the inventory as an M21 as of that standardization date. (Roughly 1600 XM21s were likely made during Vietnam, but not all likely engraved as per the build guide). Only an M14 receiver engraved post 1972 would be marked "M21", at least that is my impression. I recall seeing one H&R with "M21" crudely engraved, but pics were not allowed. Here's what the M21 build guide noted:

Thanks for the info, I've seen that guide before but was hoping for a real photo just so I could see the crudeness/font/size of the engraving used.
