Im interested to know what everyone's ideal set-up would be if you were stuck on a M1A/M14 type rifle.
I thought there was a different division for the old guys who like to beat themselves up with their "real" rifles? GI2Increased recoil is going to put you at a disadvantage compared to those kids and their damn 5.56 squirt guns!

There is. The "He-man" division. You are only allowed to use a 7.62x51 or 30-06 battle rifle, a .44 caliber or 45 acp handgun, and a 12 ga shotgun. I am pretty sure you are not allowed optics in "He-man" divison and your shotgun has to be a pump.I thought there was a different division for the old guys who like to beat themselves up with their "real" rifles? Yes, thats what i'm planning on doing. I have my m1a and my 1911 I just need to aquire a shotgun. I really like that second reticle GI3 ! I believe i'm required to use iron sights tho.. . I'll have to look again.
i'm 23 actually, but the old men should be easier to beat right haha GI6I thought there was a different division for the old guys who like to beat themselves up with their "real" rifles? GI2
Not realy, the match I have shot had a power factor. the 308 does not kick, it's all in your head! Last time at the range , a couple of swat officers were playing with their rat guns, they were eyeing my socom , so I asked it they wanted to shoot it. They loved it and were nice guy's so I broke out my 470 double rifle and my 505 gibbs bolt action. The 470 shoots a 500 gr brass solid at 2150 fps for about 90 lbs of recoil and 5000 ft pounds of engery, the 505 shoots a 535 at 2400 fps for 100 + pounds of recoil andm 6k +for foot lbs. Recoil and engery is close, but I haven't looked it up in a while. After a couple of light loads , I let them fire full house loads in the double and almost max loads in the gibbs. I had given a little coaching on how to handle the recoil.Increased recoil is going to put you at a disadvantage compared to those kids and their damn 5.56 squirt guns!

I always wanted to put on a 4 gun match , Starting off you would find and engage 4 or 5 long distance targets with a sniper class rifleThere is. The "He-man" division. Haveing done so you would bug out finding targets and fighting your way down a trail (with battle rifle and pistol) to a clearing house.
There you would take a shotgun from a fallen enemy
shooting your though to the other side useing hand gun and shotgun
That would be fun

He man is right! I thought I had seen that on one of the gun shows. And now a new level for those who can still walk by the end of the day? That's crazy!GI8There is. The "He-man" division. There is also a new class emrging called "Trooper" . Here you have to carry EVERYTHING with you... all firearms, all ammunition, your water and your food for the entire days event.
An ideal setup for me would be a 1-4x scope if you are shooting in the "tactical" divison, other than that just open sights. I would most likely NOT use my Sage EBR stock to keep down on the weight and just use a USGI fiberglass stock.
...snip...
Yes I watched all your videos and the links you provided in the other threads. They were entertaining P_G I went to the links you provided for (upda?) SInce I live in Sandy and am not too far away I was thinking about trying a match, i would be in the .308/.45/pump 12 division tooI used a standard M1A for my first 3 gun a while back... had national match sights but otherwise stock. Did fine. The length was a bit unweildy on some of the "shoot through barrier" stages but otherwise it was fine.
Videos here for those interested. TONS of fun.
