I've spent quite a lot of hours over the past couple years researching the M1A/M14 as well as a plethra of other TAC platforms to come to the decision that the M14 really is the "Hot Chick" that I want. But as is often the case, it seems that she's not going to be easy to get.

Between domestic civilian, U.S. military, and the huge number of exported units that have been manufactred (probably a couple million) it would almost seem intuative that good parts should'nt be too hard to come by, but that just isn't the case.

If someone could please enlighten me.. Where did all of the @$#%^&**?!! Parts go?

So true, but if you ask the guys that have hot chicks , they may give up some secrets to get you father along with your current quest.

On a serious note, the parts are still out there. You just have to look and pounce when they show up at a reasonable price.

ETA ( if you hesitate, you will loose out. )

You mean,.... Like Me ?.....heh heh heh......like a vulture eyeing a day old carcass from the fencepost on a lonely desert highway.

Try contacting Claude at www.raparts.com for your G.I. parts needs. He is a real good guy and his prices are not too far out of line with the going rate for G.I. parts, also you can be assured of getting the real deal parts from Claude.

It may cost you, but this "hot chick" has sorority sisters. It will be worth the money and effort to locate the parts. I feel much more attached to this rifle because I gathered all the parts. She looks good in my arms, too. P_G

Large scale (read thousands of any given part) production of USGI M14 parts ceased in 1970. Civilians have been scarfing them up for forty years. FWIW, I did buy a February 1961 Harrington & Richardson M14 barrel (TE = 1.5, MW = 1/8 " w/o flash suppressor by Ara-Mor gauge) in the southern Nevada desert yesterday along with some USGI NOS M14 parts I have first dibs on. You just got to know where to look. ICONLOL

That "hot chick" is very easy to get!

Just give any one of the major current manufacturers like
Springfield Armory, LRB Arms, or Smith Enterprises a call.

M14 Or Bust!!!

Yea, Vultures, only thing is I'm still kickin. Not Dead Yet.

I'M probably committing sacrilege, but what about Polytech.

Found one at a local pawn shop for $400.00. Looks to be in good shape.

Know about bolt issues but not much more.

+1 on Claude at RA Parts. He's got just about every small part you will need for a build and you know you'll get genuine USGI parts. Other than that you can buy off this forum, but that might take a while. Best bet is to watch the PX for an entire usgi built rifle, then you have parts for days or maybe a parts kit that comes up now and then.

Look I love my Garands and M14s but they got this stuff called Viagra. It will make your equipment work like NOS.

Although in the interest of full disclosure I have a Garand built in the Summer of 42' named Jennifer (if anybody remembers the movie)... and being married for 30 years has its issues. So a lot of times when you take "Vitamin Blue" you'll be all dressed up with nowhere to goGI8 Which I guess leaves us back to naming our riflesGI8
