FNG here,
What's the deal with buying a gun in another state? Let's say somebody from Ohio went to the Kentucky gun show and found a rifle they liked. Would it be legal for them to buy it and take it home with them? or would it have to be shipped to a FFL holder in their home state?

Disclaimer, not a expert, lawyer or BATFE agent;
But in going to Tulsa, etc I believe that if both states laws allow it you can legally do it for a long gun.
No way on a handgun.
YMMV

from ohio you can buy rifles in adjoiong states no problem. if you go to tulsa (or another non-adjoining state) you would have to transfer back to a dealer in ohio.

handguns will always have to be transfered back to a dealer.

i don't know about C&R license purchases.

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't one of the reasons for the insta-check was to buy from any state, face to face, from a dealer as long as it was not a handgun...Mike
