I have an almost new (about 200 rounds through it so far) SAI M1A loaded that I would like to get bedded hopefully before the match season starts here in mid-late April.

I am aware of many good gunsmiths that I found references to on these boards but I want to find someone local with a decent reputation. I figure if someone local can do it I would drop off/pick up myself and save 2-3 weeks for two way shipping. Within 100 miles of Boston preferably but may go a little further if someone has a really good recommendation.

Grateful for any feedback.

If you ask real nice, Ted brown might. But I believe he's in the northwest somewhere...

You could try George Spaulding in Northwood NH or Harry Cakounes at Noah's Motors in Saugus MA. Both are great smiths for GI riflea. Heads up Harry seems to have a much longer lead time than George in getting his work out the door.

That's bit of a drive from Mass... Trying to save time by cutting the S&H time by dropping off and picking up in person. Thanks anyways.

Thanks a 10^6! I will contact both of them for a time and $$$ estimate. Both are within a reasonable distance of me.
