I have recently bought a couple from Keepshooting.com, they are a good outfit to buy from, they have real, good surplus at good prices, check out thier Hk91 stuff.
I missed that $ 15.00 price, it was part of their bargin bins, I went back but they all sold out, looks like they are getting their hunting stuff out and .50 cans were in the same section
Just Saturday the wife dragged me out to Canton TX for first Monday trade days, which has got to be the worlds largest flea market. Lo and behold amongst the forever sharp knives and personalized gamma/pawpaw crap I found .50 cal ammo cans 2 for $15. One building over 2 for $25. Snagged 6 USNA
Ammo cans have really increased in price over the past 5 to 7 years. I remember going to get 50 caliber cans at the local gun show in Orange County, CA, 3 for $10 and we thought that was high. What happened? It seems that ammo cans are becoming a very valuable commodity.
Like most military surplus, ammo cans are being crushed, rather than put on the commercial market. This, in combination with an increase in demand, has led to a vast shortage of ammo cans. Companies are starting to manufacture them in China, and are selling them for the same prices as GI cans.
Our local surplus store has risen the prices of .30 cal ammo cans from $6.99 to $19.99 over the past 5 years. .50 cals went from $9.99 to $24.99. They can hardly find the bigger cans anymore.
I was wondering about this the other day myself... I need to start scrounging. I hate spending as much on shipping as I do on a product. I was REALLY eyeballing some 40mm cans at work the other day...might have to talk to some folks.
Of course I cleaned up the garage a bit last weekend and found a .50cal can. GI1 SCORE... my very small amount of powder now has a home.
A shop with in a one hour drive of the house....... which I happen to drive by for work once a week has had them regularly for $14.99. Last week they also had 3 pounds of titegroup which fit nicely in the can I purchased at the same time. GI1
Well I hit the flea market and scored a couple like new 50 cal ammo cans for 10$ a piece not a bad price. Also got a really good ammo score on some Remington 00 buck 212 rounds for 123$. Really good price I think.
Orange County Gun Show today. Picked up a bunch of good .50's for $10 ea. Also got .30's for $6 ea. Lots of cans and prices way down from just the last show two months ago. GI1
O. THE GOD DAYS. Back in the early 90's I was reffing at a paint ball range and picked up 100 near perfect 50 cal. can's for .50 each. Storage room looks like an ammo dump.
