Excellent question Gitch ...

I personally do not have an answer for ya on the life expectancy but as far as havin' a spare layin' around just in case ... I would certainly build a parts set for each weapon if it were I.

Have a good one!

I've got two projects under way....and I have 7 spare op rods...I think I have every major manufacturer except Winchester.

So, I think I may have a few too many...or no?

Which one Mr. Kennedy?

1) New SAK
2) New USGI SA
3) New USGI SA
4) New TRW
5) 95% SAK
6) 95% TRW
7) 95% HRA
or a New Polytech? :D

I have a similar problem with trigger groups:

1) New TRW
2) New O-M
3) New 66118
4) 95% O-M
5) 95% HRA

Unless your M14 is a real M14 and you use it as a SAW it should outlast a couple of barrels. Just use a light coat of gease of any kind. Too much of any grease will be a dirt and sand magnet. Op rods were not the big problem some made them out to be once we got the M60 for a SAW.
