High elbow is fairly 'standard' with M1 / M1A rifles because it produces a good 'shoulder pocket' for the rifle's buttplate.

With pistol grip rifles, a low elbow gives less contortion to the shooter's wrist.

Yeah, the high elbow is a match shooter affectation whereas the tucked in elbow is the practice used by tactical operators. I have to stop and think about what I'm doing when I mount a rifle as to which discipline I'm targeting. Pun intended.

That is the goofiest stance I have ever seen!

I turned up these interesting images, you think our SEALs are tough? And they are, they are! But these Belorussians, well, son, let's just say they are flame retardant!

I thought the military taught the chicken wing forever. My nephew went through marine training a couple years back and he chicken wings.
