I have a 18 inch Krieger stainless barrel and a Archangle stock I got in a trade. The person said the barrel was short chamber and would need reaming and that the stock and been used. I do not have and way of telling if the barrel is short chambered can some one tell me if there is a way to tell if it is short chambered? The person told me he had the stock on a rifle and did not like it and took it off but said he had to do some filling on the front barrel band to get the trigger group to lock up as he said it would not lock up and thought he was going to damage something so removing some material was the only way to get it to lock up. Does this make the stock useless now? I dont plan on using these myself and would like to sell them but I dont wont to sell them untill I know they are good. Thanks.

Ideally you would use headspace gauges to verify that the barrel is short chambered. Krieger does sell them that way. As far as the stock goes, just list it for sale with full disclosure of the work done to the front band, along with pictures. Someone will likely be interested, but since the can be had for under $200 new, you're not going to get much for an owner modified one. Have no personal experience with the Archangels, but have not hears of any owners posting that the needed to work on the front bands to get them to lock up.

The stock can be fixed with glass of so desired... The barrel can be checked with a dummy round or live round for that matter as easy as headspace gauges but if the barrel isn't installed in a proper fot rifle I'm not sure how to check. Maybe tonyben can help with that one...
