K8 marked safety.

I picked up a USGI H&R trigger group. H&R Hammer, KMT trigger guard and a safety marked K8.

According to Different's book it is usgi does anyone have any other info ?

There are several post on here about it, KMT seems to be the consensus. I won't prentend to know the subcontractor web, but they do seem to be common on Winchesters, that is what mine came on.

I believe that the KMT stands for Killeen Machine and Tool, a subcontractor that made several parts for the M14.

KMT also made magazines, trigger guards, butt plate assemblies and op rod Spring guides

I think some of their production was contract for spares and some was sub-contract for original rifle production

Different/Lee would have more insight into that
