Pardon me if I am asking something asked before, but guys I have 3 M1A's, a 22" LRB model, which I love, and a never fired SAI Scout and a Socom 16. I have owned early model SA rifles and loved them, but am not real attached to the ones I have now. Not because I don't think they are good rifles, but I am thinking about a JRA rifles. I have no inclination at all to part with my LRB, but I am thinking about selling the Socom 16 and the Scout to buy a "19.25 JRA along with some extra mags and more ammo. I know some responses my be to do what cranks my tractor personally and I understand that, but I need some insight on the quality and reliability of the JRA's. All feedback appreciated. Thanks gents and God bless!

I'd be VERY wary of purchasing ANYTHING assembled by James River. A friend of mine just purchased one of their AK74's through Atlantic Firearms, and when it arrived one could see that it was loaded with manufacturing flaws and generally sloppy assembly, with excessive gaps here and there, with the top cover and lower handguard sliding to and fro freely, and excessive and unacceptable play in the gas tube. I contacted James River for my friend, and after sending photos and expressing his concerns, my friend was absolutely rebuffed. They basically said the weapon was fine as is, and for him top enjoy it. Their warranty is 100% WORTHLESS!!

You'll be hard pressed to find someone to speak negatively on JRA's standard offerings: All USGI except the forged receiver and the barrel.

The only hiccups for JRA were their rewelds that they offered and those were cosmetic which people griped about. Those who kept theirs and shot them seem to be pleased.

I have had many different Springfields in the past five years, all fine rifles but I sold them all. I still have my JRAs. I would prefer one JRA, plus additional magazines and ammo over the two rifles you want to sell. SAI has a great warranty that you won't have with the JRA, but I can live with the difference.

I have started giving some of my M-14 rifles to my sons. First to go were the Fultons and SAI. Next the Federals will make the move. For the time being, I am hanging onto most of the LRBs, JRAs and Bulas.

Thanks guys. 9 positive reviews out of 10 ain't bad. I am going to make the move. I will most likely put my Scout and Socom in the classifieds here on the forum soon. If you know anyone that might be interested send them my way. And I do also appreciate the review from kabanchik that was not so positive. That's what I wanted, some honest feedback so I can make an informed decision. Unfortunately, sometimes a bad egg comes from every manufacturer. But, overall the JRA sounds like a winner.

Does JRA/Bula make a rear lugged receiver as an option?
