New here, hope this is the right forum. Recently bought a JRA BM-59 and need help disassembling. To remove the recoil spring it appears one of the two set pins in the block should be punched out, allowing op rod and bolt removal. Neither of these seems to want to come out.

The Do Everything Manual skips this step altogether, it goes from removing trigger group to separating the receiver from the stock, then straight to removing the op rod without explaining how to remove recoil spring first.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Relieve tension on the retaining pin, by slightly compressing the op-rod spring, before trying to remove the pin.

Then remove the op-rod normally.

The bolt can now be removed as with any M1/M14/M1A
Thanks, I did try to push back and relieve tension but will try again.

Ok, it turns out the pin doesn't need to come out. By relieving more tension on the spring, the spring guide rod just slides out. Easy. Thanks for the help.
