I’m not talking about giving up. But Americans are inherently lazy, and either did not show up at the polls three weeks ago or the entire election is rigged. If they truly cared about the country and their rights, they would not keep voting Democrats in office. The old mantra of vote them out is like a broken record. Most of the Democrats have been in there for 40+ years. At this point in the game, voting doesn’t do much good, and we have a 40+ year track record to prove it.
I will not contradict the bulk of that. There is a record to be sure. And yet, an attitude of defeatism will not facilitate a positive outcome either.

So we all can try to be part of the solution. Complaining, hand wringing and doing nothings substantive is merely to become part of the problem.

To paraphrase another aphorism: " The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing"

H.R.1808 - 117th Congress (2021-2022): Assault Weapons Ban of 2022 | Congress.gov | Library of Congress

I read that the plan is to tie this into the Respect for Marriage act, which supposedly makes gay marriage legal in federal law.

Not sure but I know in WA state its not allowed to put together such disparate bills and pass them as one, not sure on federal level. Either way, it wont work.

This AW ban is pretty intrusive and more limiting than I think SCOTUS will allow.
Yeah, it won't fly.

It already passed the house.
Won't pass the Senate and won't stand a 2A challenge.
Everyone in Congress knows it, but the House voted for it because it allows the Dems to point fingers at the GOP for stopping it and letting your kids get killed by evil looking guns.
BTW, there is no common legal definition of an 'assault weapon', it varies from municipality / state. Its allows them to define it as whatever they want.
An Assault Rifle does have a definition and brother they are only partially legal in some states. (Thanks NFA!)
And the limit on the capacity of a magazine? Can you say Bruen?

BTW, when you hear the term SAW, do you think Semi-automatic Assault Weapon or Squad Automatic Weapon ?

MaxnumFoe,
I can’t and won’t argue with your last post…I have waved that banner myself for many years.
Sadly, reality is that the trending is what it is -which is not in our favor or for the survival of our country as we know it.
2024 will not be a victory for our side.
Never, never, ever, underestimate the stupidity of the American public.
Yes, this is hill is worth dying on, but the outcome may be beyond retrieval.
There is a point of no return.

For all the firearms owners who think, "Oh, well, a semi-auto 'assault weapons' ban won't effect me," I'd suggest that you consider just how the ATF subverts the statutes and makes up its own arbitrary rules (aka, pseudo laws).

Given the current trend in the ATF, if this passes Congress - and Joe will fall all over himself to sign it - the ATF will pervert the law into a ban on ALL firearms that employ any sort of semi-auto operating system, to include semi-auto handguns, semi-auto hunting rifles and semi-auto shotguns.

This is Pelosi's last hoo-rah, and she'll try to shove this up the a** end of the American people just like was done with Obama-care. No one should think that this is a pointless exercise or some sort of ineffectual "protest vote" by the House. The Dems are dead serious about doing this.
This already passed the House.
So the only stop is in the Senate.

If you look at the bill, its a non starter because of Bruen, McDonald, and Heller... all case law that stops this.

The only question I have... how do you classify a revolver? Isn't that a semi-automatic weapon?
If that's true, then this bill would ban all handguns.

And same for semi-auto rifles. The most popular long gun. SCOTUS has already ruled against it.

The sad thing is that you can't sue congress because they'll claim immunity.

I dont know. This court is pretty skeptical of such nonsense. I dont think it will pass Congress anyway, but Joe would jump at the chance to sign it if it did.
Joe signs whatever his handlers put in front of him. And tries to parrot whatever words they write for him. They just cross their fingers and hope he doesn't wander off script.

I agree with your observations but would have liked to see a viable solution. Trump (whether you liked him or not) was the first president in memory to call out the "establishment" and tried to "Drain the Swamp". He was also the first and only one to call out the Fake News who support these entrenched Swamp Creatures.
I recently received an email from INDEED with a list of various positions that were available. One of them caught my eye. It was COO for Middle Seat Consulting with a salary of $200k-$250k. I was curious and found that it was to head up and organize the many NGOs that advocate Progressive Causes. The list provided included names like AOC and most of the "Squad" members along with many others. My point is that only weeks after the mid-terms the Left is organizing their minions for the NEXT election and beyond.
Just like any well-organized military campaign, WE have to: 1. Plan ahead, 2. Organize, 3. Have sufficient funding, 4. Be willing to spend WHATEVER IT TAKES!
A huge problem facing WE THE PEOPLE is that there are so many billionaires who support the Establishment because they can control these swamp creatures and profit from the the legislation they have them pass.
Of course, these comments and observation are just MY OPINION!!

I don’t have an attitude defeatism. You’re missing the point. People keep talking about voting them all out, and it never happens. Voting doesn’t do any good, and most people are not doing it

Never happen. Just look at the last election. People say the same thing every two years, and the same people keep getting elected over and over. There is no organization among conservatives and Americans in general. They’re too concerned about going to Starbucks and who got eliminated from dancing from the stars last week, because that’s what really matters

So what are you saying? If merely voting is fruitless, what do you have in mind as the way forward?

In my view, any option other than legitimate and secure elections is third world non-democracy.

Any other option than our constitutionally established process is not acceptable to me.

What is the solution when the constitutionally established process has been circumvented and rendered moot?

It will have to come down to the average firearms owner, and how far they will allow the Red Stalinist Feds to go. The ballot box is failing us, the country is changing, its demographics and what people see as important. The jury box is still working, somewhat, here in California scum of the 9th Circuit has sent all the cases back down for basic retrial. Then it starts all over again, 3 Judge Panel then En-Banc. The Stalinist Feds and California Reds think a waiting game will somehow save their illegal laws.
If the jury box fails then we all know what comes after that, and only time will tell.

What are you saying? What " . . .comes after . . .? How do you see this playing out to achieve what you conceive to be a positive outcome?
I'm not sure there can be any really positive outcome, but Lacie's comment reminded of this quote,
"The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of "Men Who Wanted To Be Left Alone". They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them are over. The moment the "Men Who Wanted To Be Left Alone" are forced to fight back, it is a small form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. . . . Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these "Men Who Wanted To Be Left Alone" fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at the Left's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy . . . . but it will fall upon deaf ears".

And that leads to Rwanda.

The post above sounds like a great argument for being actively involved in the system before SHTF becomes the only option left.

Another relevant aphorism: "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to stand by and do nothing."

Let me be ecxplicitly clear: I only advocate change through working within the legally defined system we already have in place.

And with that said: It is my view that doing "something" must come before the acts of rage and terror described above become the option of choice.

The only option I see left without total civil war is if the military remembers their oath to protect and defend the Constitution and begins military tribunals, but that seems unlikely with the leadership they have.

Really? You are advocating a military take-over of the government?

Are you NUTS?
Ask yourself, "What would Washington do? What would Jefferson do?" Our Constitution is being trampled daily. Only a handful of our "elected" representatives are holding to their oaths of office. Same with the leadership in the military. The Deep State is so entrenched that it is now impossible to correct this mess by voting. The Uniparty has it rigged.

What's your solution? You previously stated, "I only advocate change through working within the legally defined system we already have in place." So how's that working out? Unconstitutional laws are invalid laws, yet they are being enforced at the point of a gun. What's our recourse?

Whatever I do, it will not involve acts of "rage and terror" as suggested by EXI in a previous post, nor will it be to exhort our military to take over the government as you advocate.

That is what goes on in places like the Central African Republic, Rwanda or Syria. That has happened in the old Soviet Union and may again in what is now Russia.

I don't want the military to "take over the gov't". I want them to uphold their oaths to "protect and defend the Constitution". Hold military tribunals and adjudicate the traitors who have so completely subverted (and perverted) the form of gov't our Constitution calls for. Our Founding Fathers would have taken action long ago.

That is called a coup d’état, is that your recommendation?
