I will not contradict the bulk of that. There is a record to be sure. And yet, an attitude of defeatism will not facilitate a positive outcome either.

So we all can try to be part of the solution. Complaining, hand wringing and doing nothings substantive is merely to become part of the problem.

I read that the plan is to tie this into the Respect for Marriage act, which supposedly makes gay marriage legal in federal law.

Not sure but I know in WA state its not allowed to put together such disparate bills and pass them as one, not sure on federal level. Either way, it wont work.

This AW ban is pretty intrusive and more limiting than I think SCOTUS will allow.

BTW, there is no common legal definition of an 'assault weapon', it varies from municipality / state. Its allows them to define it as whatever they want.

For all the firearms owners who think, "Oh, well, a semi-auto 'assault weapons' ban won't effect me," I'd suggest that you consider just how the ATF subverts the statutes and makes up its own arbitrary rules (aka, pseudo laws).

Given the current trend in the ATF, if this passes Congress - and Joe will fall all over himself to sign it - the ATF will pervert the law into a ban on ALL firearms that employ any sort of semi-auto operating system, to include semi-auto handguns, semi-auto hunting rifles and semi-auto shotguns.

This is Pelosi's last hoo-rah, and she'll try to shove this up the a** end of the American people just like was done with Obama-care. No one should think that this is a pointless exercise or some sort of ineffectual "protest vote" by the House. The Dems are dead serious about doing this.

So the only stop is in the Senate.

If you look at the bill, its a non starter because of Bruen, McDonald, and Heller... all case law that stops this.

The only question I have... how do you classify a revolver? Isn't that a semi-automatic weapon?
If that's true, then this bill would ban all handguns.

And same for semi-auto rifles. The most popular long gun. SCOTUS has already ruled against it.

The sad thing is that you can't sue congress because they'll claim immunity.

I agree with your observations but would have liked to see a viable solution. Trump (whether you liked him or not) was the first president in memory to call out the "establishment" and tried to "Drain the Swamp". He was also the first and only one to call out the Fake News who support these entrenched Swamp Creatures.
I recently received an email from INDEED with a list of various positions that were available. One of them caught my eye. It was COO for Middle Seat Consulting with a salary of $200k-$250k. I was curious and found that it was to head up and organize the many NGOs that advocate Progressive Causes. The list provided included names like AOC and most of the "Squad" members along with many others. My point is that only weeks after the mid-terms the Left is organizing their minions for the NEXT election and beyond.
Just like any well-organized military campaign, WE have to: 1. Plan ahead, 2. Organize, 3. Have sufficient funding, 4. Be willing to spend WHATEVER IT TAKES!
A huge problem facing WE THE PEOPLE is that there are so many billionaires who support the Establishment because they can control these swamp creatures and profit from the the legislation they have them pass.

Never happen. Just look at the last election. People say the same thing every two years, and the same people keep getting elected over and over. There is no organization among conservatives and Americans in general. They’re too concerned about going to Starbucks and who got eliminated from dancing from the stars last week, because that’s what really matters

It will have to come down to the average firearms owner, and how far they will allow the Red Stalinist Feds to go. The ballot box is failing us, the country is changing, its demographics and what people see as important. The jury box is still working, somewhat, here in California scum of the 9th Circuit has sent all the cases back down for basic retrial. Then it starts all over again, 3 Judge Panel then En-Banc. The Stalinist Feds and California Reds think a waiting game will somehow save their illegal laws.
If the jury box fails then we all know what comes after that, and only time will tell.

I'm not sure there can be any really positive outcome, but Lacie's comment reminded of this quote,

Ask yourself, "What would Washington do? What would Jefferson do?" Our Constitution is being trampled daily. Only a handful of our "elected" representatives are holding to their oaths of office. Same with the leadership in the military. The Deep State is so entrenched that it is now impossible to correct this mess by voting. The Uniparty has it rigged.

Whatever I do, it will not involve acts of "rage and terror" as suggested by EXI in a previous post, nor will it be to exhort our military to take over the government as you advocate.

That is what goes on in places like the Central African Republic, Rwanda or Syria. That has happened in the old Soviet Union and may again in what is now Russia.

Hold military tribunals and adjudicate the traitors who have so completely subverted (and perverted) the form of gov't our Constitution calls for.
