It has been done in the Commonwealth countries; Australia, New Zealand and Canada . . . .I know that "things are different here", but never say never. In Canada it is not just tactical firearms , they ae now going after genuine hunting guns too.

The insistence on banning semi-automatic firearms as a general gun type is telling. These were not off-thee-cuff remarks. This weas a prepared text where the phrases and wording weer carefully chosen.

Robert Frances O'Rourke is still looking for a government job.

Uh, no, not really. We just had one and the Democrats are still running the show. Either people are so lazy they didn’t go out and vote or the elections rigged. Considering the state of our country, the Democrats shouldn’t be running anything other than a lemonade stand.

And you have made my point in part. The old Avis ad slogan, "We try harder." applies here. If we all just gave up going forward, the liberal-left-progressive agenda would completely ruin the country. Another slogan from my youth refers to one being part of the solution.

In my view, we can still turn this thing around.

Just giving up is not an option.

I’m not talking about giving up. But Americans are inherently lazy, and either did not show up at the polls three weeks ago or the entire election is rigged. If they truly cared about the country and their rights, they would not keep voting Democrats in office. The old mantra of vote them out is like a broken record. Most of the Democrats have been in there for 40+ years. At this point in the game, voting doesn’t do much good, and we have a 40+ year track record to prove it.
I will not contradict the bulk of that. There is a record to be sure. And yet, an attitude of defeatism will not facilitate a positive outcome either.

So we all can try to be part of the solution. Complaining, hand wringing and doing nothings substantive is merely to become part of the problem.

To paraphrase another aphorism: " The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing"

TXPI:

So what are you saying? If merely voting is fruitless, what do you have in mind as the way forward?

In my view, any option other than legitimate and secure elections is third world non-democracy.

Any other option than our constitutionally established process is not acceptable to me.

And that leads to Rwanda.

The post above sounds like a great argument for being actively involved in the system before SHTF becomes the only option left.

Another relevant aphorism: "The only thing necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to stand by and do nothing."

Let me be ecxplicitly clear: I only advocate change through working within the legally defined system we already have in place.

And with that said: It is my view that doing "something" must come before the acts of rage and terror described above become the option of choice.

Whatever I do, it will not involve acts of "rage and terror" as suggested by EXI in a previous post, nor will it be to exhort our military to take over the government as you advocate.

That is what goes on in places like the Central African Republic, Rwanda or Syria. That has happened in the old Soviet Union and may again in what is now Russia.

The only option I see left without total civil war is if the military remembers their oath to protect and defend the Constitution and begins military tribunals, but that seems unlikely with the leadership they have.
A Coup; I read it the same way as you do Phil. A Coup is how Gorbachev was displaced in the Soviet Union. I look for something like that to happen in Russia to displace Putin in the near future, but not here in the USA.
