Problem is a county within a state can have its own knife laws & a city within a county can have its own. So a call to the local police or shreiff's department is your best bet for accurate information.

Very true. Here in Texas, they just made switchblades legal. However, San Antonio has a city ordinance that makes them illegal within city limits. The state legislature tried to pass a knife preemption law (like the firearm preemption) that prevents lower governments from making laws more restrictive than state law, but it failed to pass.

Not necessarily. Not saying you're wrong; just that there are two important things to keep in mind.

First, some States have a law that makes it illegal for lower municipalities to do that. Certainly you can't take it for granted, but one thing to do when checking a place out is to find out whether they have such a law.

Second, and this is unfortunate but true; most LEO's know surprisingly little about the law. Asking one to inform you about the law is hit or miss and can be dangerous.

The best thing to do for any State you wish to get information about is to do an internet search for a discussion forum in that location. Here in Ohio for instance, if you were interested in Gun law, you would get Buckeye Firearms and Ohioans For Concealed Carry. Register and ask. If you need info on knives, just search for a knife forum instead of a gun forum.

Not that there aren't plenty of sources of bad information on the internet, but over the course of a thread you'll get the right info. Also, just like here, the search function pulls up plenty of info for common questions.
