I don't think I need to remind people that it is important to get out and vote this year. It is not a year to stay home. As gunowners following the news, we know what is at risk. Not wanting to run afoul of the ban on political and editorial posts, I'm not going to suggest who you should vote for-- I think you can figure that out yourselves. Just remember what is at stake.

It's not a 4 or 8 year deal this time around.

Most importantly is the SCOTUS judges that will be appointed by the next POTUS
that will set in stone the next 40 years., including 2A rights.

Pretty much the rest of my lifetime.

Preaching to the choir I know, but many people walk through life with their heads up their a.. So it's worth repeating.

Who the president is, or who is on the supreme court has no bearing on natural rights. It may have a little bearing on the recognition of natural rights, but nothing to do with the rights themselves. I think it's a mistake to allow any debate at all when it comes to our rights, it's giving consent to a process that could easily go the wrong way. Voting got us into this situation, it'd be insanity to think the same process could get us out. Frequently, I claim my rights despite what the law says, I understand the consequences, but of course don't consent to the whole process. I'm an unprosecuted felon many times over, so much that I don't really care anymore. This thing will cam over and the light poles will strain under their load, but I don't think voting will have a role in it good or bad.

If you think your vote doesn't count, visit a national cemetery and take a walk around. Then just tell yourself one of those guys has given you his vote to do with as you will.

I could not agree with you more, but the breed of politicians we have endured for many years have had only their agenda and personal interests that motivated them. They will tell you anything to be elected and then do the opposite with total disregard for it's negative effect on our nation. The American people are very angry at these politicians and the federal government and I'm hopeful this next election will be a significant first step in returning our country to what it was intended to be.

All painful changes require the first step, vote.

This Memorial Day, go to a Veterans Cemetary, my dad is at Lincoln veteran Cemetary in Illinois. You read those markers , some old, some new, and tell me your vote don't count. I get choked up everytime I go there and read those dates of the deceased that died for our rights. It's a humbling place to visit.

Fair enough, but recognize that it has always been thus in America, starting at day one. Reading about Thomas Jefferson has convinced me that there was plenty of politics and back-stabbing in the very early days, and the quote above from Mark Twain suggests that people were skeptical in his time, too.

You have to vote. No matter what side of the political fence you're on, if you don't vote you're handing the election over to the other side.

I may be over Simplifying things here but as much as you know or want your God given rights if laws get changed the 2ND gets over turned your beliefs as good and true as they are not going to save you when the Cops knock at your front door.
A Vote can be the difference between Shooting through your front door or enjoying a day at the range.

To those politically disillusioned souls who seem inclined to stay home this year, let me point out a couple of facts. It should be noted that one candidate says he is committed to defending gun rights and the 2nd amendment. Then we have another who repeatedly says that she will work to outlaw "assault weapons" and impose other more stringent gun control laws. One of her more sinister efforts has been her call to repeal the legal protections given to gun dealers and manufacturers to prevent their being sued by shooting victims. Believe me when I say that this will probably put every manufacturer and dealer out of business and/or drive the price of guns sky high. But even closer to home, it would make you as a gun owner potentially liable to devastating lawsuits. How?-- You ask. Well, almost everyone has sold a gun or has had one stolen. That puts you in the chain. A mere allegation that you were somehow negligent in allowing your gun to be stolen or maybe you shouldn't have sold it to that guy off Gunbroker. A mere allegation of negligence and you could be looking at economic devastation at the hands of plaintiffs' attorneys.

There is so much at stake this year. If that one candidate gets elected and is able to enact even a small part of her anti-gun agenda, it won't be pretty. We must go out and vote.

Perhaps some of you have misunderstood my earlier post. I do not advocate foregoing voting in November. I will certainly vote and encourage all others to do so because it is a vitally important election. The point of my earlier post was to illustrate the fact that politicians frequently do not do what they say they will do and often do exactly the opposite of what they say they will do. When politicians do that it diminishes the importance of our vote because it renders us potentially impotent to influence policy through our vote. In that instance, the Mark Twain quote holds considerable truth.
