.. it was a lot of fun.

There were about 14 shooters, 0ne Sig MPX and three CZ Scorpions shooting in the PDW Division.
Everyone else but me was shooting in Service Rifle, most with Optics but a few with iron sights.

I shot Battle Rifle Optics Division.

First two stages were scenarios involving targets, no shoot targets and walls and barricades and the last two stages were drill or standards stages.

I did OK considering I was using a 2.75 scope which was not the best for transitioning between targets and I was mag changing from my cargo pockets! But everyone was awake by the time I finished shooting!

I bought it mostly for pig hunting but it was fun shooting about 80 rounds last night.

It didn't sound loud to me!

Everyone was actually laughing and during the pistol match last night one of the carbine shooters asked if I was bringing it next time. I said no, that was a one time fun indoor night.

Indoors?
M14?
Eh ...
What?

I have shot some "practical" matches with SHORTIFIED (18.5") M14s. One memorable match involved running along inside a canyon, at dusk. The spectators told me afterwards that, though they could not see me directly, they could pin point my location in the canyon by the THUNDER and LIGHTNING that accompanied my trip.

Not just noise pollution but light pollution makes 7.62 NATO less than the ideal choice for indoors. Never mind OVERPENETRATION, as demonstrated by that old army training video showing the difference between cover and concealment, by demolishing a concrete block wall with a mag or two of 7.62.

NOPE ...
If ya wanna play inside, .300 BLK makes more sense.
In fact, ONCE AGAIN,
I am thinking of abandoning the M14 platform to play around with .300 BLK.
The distances I shoot at do not require battle rifle power, and rotator cuff/arthritis is making it oainful to shoot 7.62/.308 Win.
Time to wimp out to a lighter calibre.

Oh yeah ...
Here in Canuckistan, there is new gossip regarding a Chinese/Canuck M14 ...
In 7.62x39 Russian.
HMMMmmm?
