I almost went to the Dark side today. I was going to order a DSA FAL. I had thought about it and had settled on a model. I was at my local dealer who had quoted me a price the day before. Well any way I’m there at his store and he calls DSA to confirm the price. So on the call back DSA raised the price by almost $300. To say the least I was shocked. I couldn’t believe a price change that much in 24hrs. So needless to say I dropped the whole thing. But as I was standing there I notice a new SA M-1 Garand on the wall. I felt this was fate telling what I should do. So in the Spirit of the best Christmas movies I regained by true (M1A) self and bought the Garand.

Congratulations on the M1  !!!

I bought one of those new models several months ago and they are very beautifully made - and ACCURATE. There was a very good write up in the last Shotgun News by Paul Scarlata about these "new" Garands. The die hard purists may scoff at the fact that they are not 100% US military veterans, but just short of the original, you will not find a better brand new replacement at that price. According to SA, production is limited to 10,000 Garands. I think it fills a niche in anyones collection. Enjoy

Well I got it home lastnight and it looks real good. The Dealer told me it was one of the ones made in the USA. He said that a batch was put to gether in Itlay and those are the one that are haveing the problems. He said the had a 60% problem rate with the Italians. The Italian one have a small proof mark on the reciver right at the end on the Springfield name. The rifle was completed and test fired on 9-3-2003.Not sure how to post a pic here.
