Very disappointed in this ammo . I bought 120 rds. before Xmas and today when I was going to use it , I discovered that the LC cases that were used to load it are all corroded . I had stored it in an ammo can so I know I am not the reason it is corroded . The bullet themselves look OK . When I get to the range I will find out how it shoots . As it stands now ; I will not buy any more . Just a heads up for everyone .

Reloaded Lake City brass, I'm leaving that ammunition on the shelf at any price. Just Google it, you can see a picture of the boxes.

I'm not very good with a camera ( my wife's). The rounds shown are representative of all 120 rounds I purchased . I tried to cleanup the 2 rounds on the left with steel wool . I also reload and my rounds look almost new when I'm done , far better than these . All the brass is LC but the head-stamps are mixed . When I load match ammo ; I make sure all head-stamps are the same . I will not be buying any more .

Capona , The ammo I have is not as bad as the pix of Hirtenberger you listed . Maybe I'm too fussy . I have never purchased ammo that was as crummy as the HPR I received and that includes surplus in 5.56 and 7.62 .

If the cases have actual corrosion - surface roughness, that's a big problem.
If it is discoloration / tarnish on the cases, and no roughness - that might be just 'cosmetic'.

^^^this is important to hear! I had some 7mm-08 that got wet in my pack. The corrosion didn't look that bad, when I shot it blew a pin hole in the case. Luckily I had glasses on, could have been bad.

Where/who did you buy the ammo from?

Someone may have sold you reloads in HPR's box or the ammo was poorly stored.

I looked at their website and found no mention of using LC brass, only found statements that they used their new HPR brass.

What are the dates on the LC brass?

Found mention of HPR on other forums dating back to 2012, so they've been around for a few years.

Don't really remember who I bought it from as I have bought various amounts and brands since last summer . Next time I am going to keep a record of when and where I bought . According to the HPR website , they use both new and surplus brass . Most dates on the brass are LC 06 with a few LC 03(15 rds) , LC 05(4 rds) , and LC 13(10 rds).
