I just picked up a couple M14s in a trade this week and just started doing so research to see what I have. The one in question is a James River with a rewelded H&R heel. I have been searching the net but I haven't found much other than I saw that they were available via a group buy. Any info would be cool. Thanks

Well, out of 1,380,264 M14s produced, 38.94% were Harrington & Richards...They were the largest producer.

25.83% were Winchesters
23.12% were TRWs
and
12.11% were Springfields

EDIT: H&R were also the most expensive commercial variants, averaging $103.00 each. (Winchesters average $95.00 each and TRWs cost $85.54 each. Springfield production was not priced out the same as the commercial vendors, but the adjusted unit cost to the Arsenal averaged $160.95 each.)

I know a lot of Fellas scoff at these welded receivers, but I think they are neato.
Me too.
I think the fellas that scoff are just jealous that they didn't come up with the idea. It shows every time they comment. They are certainly in the minority.

As far as rarity, the VAST majority of rewelds JRA has done have been Win & TRW. I'm still looking for the elusive H&R when funds allow and I find the right heel.
